WHAT CAN I EXPECT?

We aim to work alongside you to complete thorough assessments and tailor interventions to meet your individual needs. 
We will work with you to find the Psychologist that is the best fit for you and your family. 
Your initial appointment will be used to gather information about your current concerns as well as the history of those concerns and the strategies you've already tired before seeking help. 
Using the information gathered, we will then create and implement a specilaised intervention plan.

HOW LONG DOES EACH THERAPY SESSION TAKE?

Sessions are typically around 50 minutes in duration. Sometimes they can be shorter or longer depending on the need. Your Psychologist will always discuss this with you and make a plan collaboratively.

STRUCTURE OF OUR SERVICE

Child and Family Psychology Services is a collective of Independent Psychologists working alongside each other with a shared vision to improve the wellbeing of individuals, children, young people and their families/ whanau. 

Psychologists are self employed and are bound by their professional code of ethics. They each keep their own individual confidential notes, and these are not shared with other team members, with the exception of clinical supervision.  

Terms of engagement will be discussed with you during your first appointment. 

Referrals via our Contact Page may be viewed by all team members so we can place you with the most appropriate Psychologist.  You may also request a specific Psychologist.

WHAT DOES A PSYCHOLOGIST DO?

Psychologists assess, diagnose, and treat mental health issues, emotional challenges and behavioural problems. They also provide therapy to help individuals cope with stress, improve their wellbeing, and achieve personal goals.

HOW DO I KNOW IF I NEED TO SEE A PSYCHOLOGIST?

If you're experiencing persistent feelings of sadness, anxiety or stress, struggling with relationships, facing significant life challenges, or having trouble managing daily activities, it might be helpful to see a Psychologist.

HOW LONG DOES THERAPY USUALLY LAST?

The duration of therapy varies depending on the issues being addressed. Some people may benefit from a few sessions, while others might need longer term therapy. Your psychologist will discuss this with you and make a collaborative plan.

ARE MY SESSIONS CONFIDENTIAL?

Yes, therapy is confidential. Psychologists are bound by ethical guidelines and laws to protect your privacy. There are however some exceptions, such as situations involving harm to yourself or others. This will be discussed in a transparent manner with you by your psychologist.
